    Summit Ascent

Posted by Steven Collins on Aug 24th 2024

Dual Angle Layout: 55 x 4 ½ x 25 Storm Vector Layout: 4 ½ x 4 ½ x 1 5/8 The New Summit Ascent features the Centripetal HD A.I. core wrapped in R2S solid reactive cover stock. The Summit Ascent gives me a strong midlane reaction but still stores enough energy to pop on the back end. This ball is the perfect match up for a fresh house shot given my higher rev rate. For me the Summit Ascent is a bit stronger than the original Optimum Idol if your looking for a comparison.

Storm Summit Ascent – WWRD 8/23/2024

Cover: R2S Solid Reactive Core: Centripetal HD - A.I. RG: 2.46 RG. Diff.: 0.056 Finish: 4000-Grit Abralon Fragrance: Cream Soda Storm’s new Summit Ascent is a Solid Symmetric Piece. This piece is good for Medium Volume Patterns. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin Up between the Fingers and CG kicked out 1” from the palm. I threw this on a left over house pattern. Out of Box ball motion was that it started in the mids with a smooth backend. I compared this piece to the Summit and Summit Peak. Summit was 1-1 Right weaker and the Summit Peak 2-2 Left. Summit was cleaner through the front with a smooth motion on the backend. Summit Peak was smoother through the fronts with a sharper backend. This piece fits between the Summit and Summit Peak. This is a Versatile piece that fits all styles of bowlers. Check out the Ball motion Video on my YouTube Page: https://youtu.be/xTwrynGyCN0

    Summit Ascent!

Posted by Joshua L. Shoemaker on Aug 22nd 2024

The Summit Ascent features the same centripetal HD AI core found in the previous Summit balls but is now wrapped in R2S solid. The Ascent is a ball that I feel the Storm line has been lacking for a long time. Back when the SonIQ was released, I was looking forward to an R2S solid version that unfortunately never came. With the Ascent, that wish was finally granted. The Ascent features the perfect amount of strength, control and responsiveness that will come in handy on a wide variety of conditions. Summit Ascent Review

Posted by Adam Chase on Aug 21st 2024

Layout: 4 1/2 x 3 x 2 Surface: 4000 abralon Rev rate: 470 Tilt: 13 degrees The Summit Ascent brings back the Centripetal Ai core but this time with the R2S Solid coverstock found also currently on the IQ Tour Solid. The weaker coverstock makes this ball a game changer especially being a solid coverstock. What's unique about the Ascent is that this is actually weaker than the Original Summit which was hybrid. The Ascent is much cleaner through the front part of the lane and gives ample continuation due to the weaker coverstock. I was able to test this on a 44ft typical house shot and a 39ft US Open sport pattern. On the house pattern, I saw easy length and a continuous yet controlled ball reaction. I was able to use this on the fresh as expected but the weaker coverstock let me stay with the ball longer as transition occurred. What's nice about this ball is the length of potential use compared to other Solid balls on the market.marker. The higher Differential core allows the ball to read in the oil strongly while the weaker coverstock allows the ball to get down the lane. This ball will be useful for a wide range of bowlers on the house pattern as it will work on several different versions. The cover also takes well to surface changes so if you need a little more traction, I would bring the surface down to 2000 abralon. On the US Open Pattern, I saw a lot of similarities to the house pattern in terms of usage. The medium length and volume allowed me to use the Ascent straighter on the fresh and move in to play more left to right after transition. Again, the weaker coverstock got the ball down the lane and saw great continuation. As a bowler who struggles on high friction lane surfaces, I can see myself having this ball in my arsenal for a wide array of patterns. It's versatility allows me to play straight or hook the lane where necessary. This ball will be great for many styles and conditions making it a staple ball for any arsenal. Adam Chase Storm Staff

    Summit Ascent

Posted by Chase Valenzuela on Aug 21st 2024

The third iteration of the Summit line is here! The Summit Ascent features a different color formula than the first two, which is an exciting turn for this ball. R2S Solid is an absolute hit on the IQ Tour Solid (GOAT ball), so the Ascent has a lot to live up to! For me, this ball is a very similar feel to the IQ Tour Solid in terms of the spot it fills in the bag, but the shape is significantly different than that of the IQTS. The stronger, larger core in the Summit results in a smoother, slower shape that is still continuous, but not quite as quick/responsive as the IQ Tour Solid. If you find your IQ Tour Solid to be too sideways at times, or if it doesn't have quite enough differential for you, The Ascent is a great option with a similar hook potential. This ball also provides an option for people who are looking for that early, smooth symmetrical shape but find the Phaze 2 cover to be a bit too strong. This ball is super unique and potentially fills a couple of really interesting gaps in the bag! -Chase Valenzuela

    Summit ascent

Posted by Blake Albers on Aug 20th 2024

The new storm summit ascent will definitely be a staple in my bag! I drilled this one down with a 4 3/4 inch pin. After throwing this one it reminded me of an absolute power with a bit earlier cover/core. It reads this mid lane very nicely, while still having a controlled motion. If you love the iq tour your definitely like this one! With this new summit ascent having one of the best covers ever made wrapped around the centripetal HD-AI core, scores will be super high! I expect this one to be a top seller! 10/10 from me!

It'll Make You Feel on Top of the World!

Posted by Todd Sigeti on Aug 20th 2024

Layout - 45 x 5 x 30 The Summit Ascent is the first solid in the Summit line. While you might think "even stronger and earlier than the original Summit?", it fits right in between the original Summit and the Summit Peak. While the Summit is a hybrid, it was a very strong cover that used an updated version of the Phaze II cover formula. The Summit Ascent, however, utilizes the proven R2S solid coverstock at 4000 grit out of the box. If that sounds familiar, that's exactly the same cover and finish as the IQ Tour! So the end result is a cleaner solid than other similar pieces like the Optimum Idol and the Phaze II. The Summit Ascent is, just... WOW! The R2S Solid cover is a perfect complement to the proven super-low RG Centripetal HD AI core found in the other two Summits. Compared to the Phaze II and the Optimum Idol, it is cleaner with a much more pronounced backend charge. It is VERY strong of the spot and cuts through the pocket like butter. Available August 23. You are not going to be disappointed with this one! Todd Sigeti Storm Amateur Staff

    Summit Ascent

Summit Ascent - Ball Specs Cover Stock: R2S Solid Reactive Cover Stock Finish: 4000 Grit Core: Centripetal HD Layout: 65 x 5 x 35 RG: 2.46 Differential: 0.056 Review The Summit Ascent is the latest addition to Storm’s Master line. The Summit Ascent has combined the Centripetal HD core with R2S Solid Reactive cover stock. This combination gives the Summit Ascent a cleaner read in the midlane for a ball with a solid cover stock, which allows for versatility on house and tournament lane conditions. I tested the Summit Ascent on a 43 feet house pattern. For a mid to low rev player, I was able to play track area out to the first arrow with great success. The R2S solid cover allowed Summit Ascent to get to its break point and store a lot of energy on the backend for a continuous motion through the pins. This is a great ball for all levels of bowlers. Summit Ascent

Posted by Zachary Woelfel on Aug 20th 2024

The Storm Summit Ascent stands out as a powerful addition to Storm’s lineup, designed to excel in heavy oil conditions. This ball features the Centripetal HD weight block paired with the new A.I. (Amplified Inertia) outer core, delivering a strong mid-lane read and robust backend reaction. Compared to other balls in Storm’s current lineup, the Summit Ascent offers more aggressive traction due to its TX-23 Hybrid coverstock, which enhances oil absorption and provides exceptional grip on slick lanes. It's particularly ideal for bowlers who want a strong, continuous motion through the pins without sacrificing control, making it a top choice for tackling challenging lane conditions. Whether you’re facing fresh oil or transitioning patterns, the Summit Ascent’s combination of power and versatility sets it apart from other balls in Storm's range, making it a must-have for competitive bowlers.

    Storm Summit Ascent Review

Posted by Tobias Myers on Aug 19th 2024

The Storm Summit Ascent comes with the R2S Solid Reactive, Centripetal™ HD -A.I. Core, and 4000-grit surface. This is the newest ball in the Summit line. This Summit is the cleanest of the three so far and gets down the lane with plenty of pop. This ball reminds me of a symmetrical Absolute Power or in that area as I see it. I think this is the weakest of the 3 summits as the original summit and peak are a bit stronger. I compared it to both the Power and Peak and felt like a ball just below the Power/Peak. The Ascent seems to be a stronger IO Tour Solid due to the core being stronger with a bit more midlane. I am already liking this ball and it's going to be another home run from Storm!
