X-Cell
Let me tell you about the Roto Grip X-Cell—this ball is an absolute game-changer that has redefined my bowling experience! With its groundbreaking Newcleus AI core and the cutting-edge eTrax solid cover, the X-Cell strikes the perfect harmony between forgiveness and pinpoint accuracy. I recently took the X-Cell to a tough 44-foot oil pattern with 30 units of oil, and let me tell you, it exceeded all expectations. The ball smoothly reads the mid-lane, providing a controlled, powerful reaction on the backend. Its ability to retain energy and blast through the pins is nothing short of extraordinary. Even when making adjustments, I was consistently able to carry those tricky corner pins with ease. Compared to my Idol Optimum, the X-Cell’s early lane read is a game-changer. I was able to shift my strategy and move my feet left, still achieving incredible pin carry. Over four games, I rolled an impressive 880 series, all thanks to the consistent and dynamic performance of the X-Cell. If you’re in the market for a ball that combines supreme control with unbeatable versatility, the Roto Grip X-Cell is your answer. It’s now a staple in my bowling arsenal, and I’m beyond thrilled with the results!

NEW Roto Grip X-Cell
Roto Grip X-Cell Layout: 5.0 x 5.0 x 1 Storm Pin Buffer Layout Rev Rate: 325 rpm, 7 degree of axis tilt, 40 degree of axis rotation Testing information: 41 foot THS (medium to light volume) Bowling Center: Fulton Bowling Center Kegel Machine – Brunswick Anvilane Roto Grip X-Cell utilizes the e-Trax Ultra solid coverstock and the Nucleus weightblock + AI core. The X-Cell is a tank, meaning it wants to roll early (but not too early) and smooth backend motion. A great choice for heavier oil patterns with fresh backends. The visual effect is an Alpha Crux vibe, which is a good start. The on-the-lane performance is in the Eternity PI or Reality category. The new e-Trax Ultra coverstock has a R2S shape to it in this X-Cell. The X-cell seems to be gaining traction on the professional levels as indicated by its use at the recent Jonesboro Trio tournament, which normally means “good ball”. The X-Cell is not the strongest ball in terms of board coverage but will be able to handle heavy oil with fresh backends. I think the X-Cell is going to be a very versatile bowling ball. The team at Storm almost always get the cover preparation correct when they send them out, but shining your X-Cell might be an option. Visit your local Storm VIP Pro Shop! #Stormnation

REBIRTH: RG X-CELL
LANE CONDITION Length: 41' Volume: Medium-Heavy Pattern: THS Layout: PIN UP 4 1/4 x 3 1/2 x 1 1/4 COMMENTS The Roto Grip X-Cell bowling ball is a standout addition to the Roto Grip lineup, bringing back the iconic Nucleus core from the original Cell series with some modern enhancements. Here's a detailed review: The X-Cell features the Nucleus + AI core, which provides a lower RG of 2.50, a total differential of 0.056, and an intermediate differential of 0.019. This design helps the ball maintain a strong and continuous motion on the lanes. It uses the eTrax ULTRA Solid Reactive coverstock, which is an upgrade from the original Cell’s Cytoplasmic Solid. Designed to handle today's oil patterns more effectively, the ball comes out of the box with a 2000 Abralon finish, making it suitable for medium-heavy oil conditions. Providing a strong back-end motion with excellent continuation for me it digs into the oil well, with plenty of recovery on the fresh conditions and as the lanes break down. It maintains its effectiveness without burning up too quickly when making the right adjustments. I compared to the Roto Grip Magic Gem and Storm Absolute Power the X-Cell offers a cleaner motion through the front part of the lane and a smoother backend. This makes it a versatile choice for various lane conditions. My Tweener style with a medium rev rate found the ball's mid-lane read, back-end reaction to be very reliable and aggressive without overreacting off the friction Strokers with a lower rev rate will appreciate the ball's ability to maintain energy through the pins, making it a solid choice for typical house shots. The Roto Grip X-Cell is a powerful and versatile bowling ball that caters to a wide range of bowlers. Its strong performance in heavy oil conditions, combined with its ability to adapt as lanes transition, makes it a valuable addition to any bowler's arsenal. Whether you're a cranker, tweener, or stroker, the X-Cell offers the performance and reliability needed to excel on the lanes. Strength with versatility
Roto Grip – X-Cell 14-pounds Layout 5 x 4 x 1.5 Style – stroker Ball Speed – 14–15 mph at pins Condition – house pattern - HPL surface Surface – box condition As I continue to fill out a 14-pound arsenal, this is one I wanted to look at. Drilled with the same layout as my Ion Pro, I wanted a stronger compliment. Ball looks chalky out of box given finish and colors. Concerned it was going to roll at my toes. It did not. Given the older, high friction surface, that I bowl on most of the time, the ball still cleared the fronts well. Heavy, controlled roll off the breakpoint with a nice continuation through the pins. For me, it was 3-5 stronger than the Ion Pro, depending upon how I’m trying to shape my shot. These two balls will complement each other well. The X-Cell will handle more oil and control the shot shape and then as they transition, I can go to the Ion Pro to get through the fronts and shape more down lane. The X-Cell will be as strong of a ball as I need for league without it burning up immediately given my slower ball speed. Once I get into the big balls they tend to roll out and don’t continue through the pins. This ball should appeal to a wide range of bowlers, and I’d highly recommend you give it a look if you’re in the market for something stronger than your typical solid, symmetrical, benchmark ball.

X-Cell Review
Ball Specs: Roto Grip X-Cell E-Trax Ultra Solid Reactive Asymmetric Nucleus A.I Core Finish: 2000 grit Abralon Layout: 3 x 4.5 with 2.5 Pin Buffer Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5” Over 1/2 up Rev Rate 300. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: I have always liked the Cell line and the new X-Cell is another very good strong ball. I did not see much of the A.I. pin bounce with this ball as I do in others but the X-Cell hit very good if I kept it in the oil or kept my speed up. The lanes I did most my testing on where a bit dryer than I would have liked for this ball but this showed how strong it could be. A buddy of mine was rolling his VIP X-Cell on the pair next to me that we polished with rough edge over box and the motion was still very strong but the ball was able to save more energy for the back end. I think a smoother sand and smooth edge polish would work very well for what we were testing on. As always don’t fear surface changes. Storm/Roto/Global family balls are great out of box but tune very easily to dial a reaction in. The X-cell has a very consistent motion and will be a trustworthy piece in heavy oil. I do feel this ball will need some oil especially up front to roll at its best. I would put this ball right up with the original Gem for total hook which puts it above basically everything else. I can see this being a great sport tournament ball or a ball that will help bowlers with higher speeds or lower rev rates. Summary: The Roto Grip X-Cell hooks, a lot. The consistent strong motion is comforting. If you are a Cell fan you should really like this ball. X-Cell
The X-Cell is the first of the Cell balls that I've been able to throw, and what a unique shape! the medium RG strong asymmetric core allows the ball to float through the front part of the lane more easily than our other SPI solid asyms, without becoming too flippy. The X-Cell features A.I. core tech, which usually translates to balls being earlier and smoother for me. This is how i read the X-Cell; smooth, controllable, heavy rolling, and continuous. This ball provides a unique addition to our product line. If you like solid asyms and want one that is slightly cleaner, the X-Cell is that ball! -Chase Valenzuela

King of them All!
Sam Cooper. Roto Grip Amateur Staff. The Legendary Cell line returns in the form of the X Cell! We have the same Nucleus Core found in the original wrapped in A.I. Core technology. Along with a new cover in E-Trax Ultra Solid. I was more than excited when I heard that we were bringing this ball back out. This was one of the most versatile balls I can remember. If you had any of the Cell bowling balls you are going to want to get your hands on the X Cell! Wes Malott dominated the PBA tour with this ball would love to see him get another title with this ball in his hands. It is very nice to have this motion back in the bag. I have tested the X Cell on short and long patterns already and it just performs how I remember it. The cover feels on the cleaner side in the fronts but really starts to gain traction in the middle lane. The reaction shape I would say is smooth yet powerful and does not quit on you going through the pins. I thought this ball back when the Cell was out hit great this one hits even better. I would say that the X Cell is a step down in strength from a Gem or Harsh Reality. But it is stronger than an Optimum Idol or Summit. The versatility of this ball is great for a wide range of conditions that you will see from house shots and tournament patterns. Not to mention that this ball will be great for a wide variety of bowlers as well. If you had one when the Original Cell was out you are going to want to get the new X Cell!

X-Cell
Roto Grip X-Cell Coverstock: eTrax Ultra Solid Finish: 2000 Grit Abralon Core: Nucleus + A.I. (14 pd) RG: 2.55 Differential: 0.048 Int Diff: 0.016 Layout: 5 x 5 x 3 - 2LS Layout Extras: 2 1/8 Finger Depth, "X" - 4 1/2 D and 1 Inch Left Tester: PAP 6 1/2 R, 1 1/4 D Review: The X-Cell features the newer Amplfied Inertia (A.I.) core technology. This core as you would expect will help the X-Cell in providing a predictable shape at the end of the pattern. As A.I. core technology has been previously tested that means a few extra percentage points of carry can be anticipated. For my review I compared my X-Cell to the sneaky good RST X-1. The X-Cell provides a good amount of traction in the front part of the lane at the 2000 OOB finish. I did surface my X-Cell up to 3K on a spinner for a PBA Shark pattern to see if this ball would fit well after some breakdown from the Magic Gem. To my surprise both the X-Cell and RST X-1 fit nicely. Both gave me a good amount of miss room. The X-Cell did allow me to stay a tad straighter than the RST X-1. Both were really good and to be honest it was splitting hairs for me. Both a big thumbs up! I recommend the X-Cell for medium to longer patterns. The OOB finish should work well for most conditions you encounter. I will definitely use the X-Cell as a step down from the Magic Gem. The X-Cell will play straighter overall but allow you to stay on line in a much more forgiving way as the lanes transition. I'm definitely excited about this ball from Roto Grip. Powerful Forgiveness
The X-Cell proves that something that has been proven in the past can be used with current technology and make something super now. I am really looking forward to using this ball outside of league play on some harder patterns. The X-Cell will have a starting roll for my league house along side my Optimum Idol. This ball might be the strongest ball I have thrown in a while. I have even let a couple people throw it and the ball was so much more aggressive than they thought. This ball will definitely benefit everyone for a range of different reasons and it really does give forgiveness in many aspects.

X-Cell by Roto Grip Rick
Roto Grip X-Cell Coverstock: e-Trax ULTRA Solid Reactive Core: Nucleus + A.I. Core Finish: 2000 Abralon – also for 50ft. pattern I finished it with 4000 Abralon Layout: 5 x 6 x 4 Hear me out... The Cell line has been RE-BORN with the all-new X-Cell for 2024 and beyond. With the addition of the A.I. technology onto the Nucleus core that brought the new Roto Grip back to the top of performance bowling ball, the new Cell is still simply TRUSTWORTHY, CONSISTENCE, and packs a ton of VERSATILITY built-in to it. I tested and used it on 2 different patterns. A 44ft house pattern and a 50ft USBC sport pattern at ABC North Lanes and Lounge and what I found was that the X-Cell works on a variety of patterns with just a minor surface change from 2000Ab on the house pattern to 4000Ab on the 50ft USBC pattern. I was able to ball up from my Attention Star and Lighting Blackout on the house pattern to open-up my angles and use the heavy oil in the front of the pattern and allow the X-Cell travel to outside of the target markers to get around any traffic I see on my side of the lane, was able to stay in the X-Cell a lot longer than when I use my Attention Star and Lighting Backout when starting in league. On 50ft pattern, I started with My Magic Gem, Harsh Reality, and squared way UP with my X-Ray, and then I switched over the X-Cell and it was better down lane and an overall better and more consistent reaction over the course of the 90 minutes (about 1 and a half hours) I practiced on the pattern. I was quite worn-out afterwards but was pleased with the outcome of the practice session. The X-Cell will be placing the Magic Gem and Harsh Reality in my arsenal because it covers the best of those 2 balls. My summer bags consist of: Roto Grip X-Ray, Storm Tropical Surge solid, Lighting Blackout, Icon Pro, Attention Star and the X-Cell.
