Additional product information:

We’ve taken the benchmark concept and created the next best innovation. The success and longevity of balls like the !Q Tour and Phaze II is no secret, but bowlers are craving more! Enter, the Ion Pro. This is the first asymmetric benchmark ball ever designed by Storm Bowling and will be the new standard of reliability. A benchmark ball is designed to provide a balanced performance across different lane conditions. This ball is designed to allow bowlers to adjust their game without switching to a different ball. Quite simply, it’s made for players of every style from any angle. Every bowler should have this in their bag.

Forgiveness from All Angles

The stacked ellipse design of the Element Core places the smaller ellipses towards the ends of the X-Axis and the widest ellipse at the center of the Y-Axis. Conceptually opposite to cavity designs featured in the Crux™ and Absolute™, the Element Core dynamics will change more between different layouts with this shape because of it. This center heavy concept places the largest ellipse in the geographic center of the ball. More mass towards the center lowers the RG and, in conjunction with the A.I. Core, makes the Element weight block one of the lowest RG asymmetrical designs Storm has ever had. Normally on asymmetric weight blocks, the thinnest portion creating the asymmetry is very close to the Y-Axis. Stairstep asymmetry is the opposite of that. The widest part is at the Y-Axis which would normally decrease asymmetry, but each subsequent ellipse is offset and skinnier than the previous one which creates asymmetry with each stair step.

    Ion Pro Review

Posted by Thomas Coco on Jul 2nd 2024

The Ion Pro is Storm's newest addition to the benchmark line, surpassing the success of the IQ Tour and the Phaze 2. With the all-new Element Tour AI core and the TX-16 Hybrid coverstock, the Ion Pro takes the benchmark series to a whole new level. I drilled mine at 45 x 4.5 x 30. Testing it on a 42ft house pattern at my home center of Cortlandt Lanes, the Ion Pro tends to pick up a little earlier in the friction, but still has that smooth, controllable finish as it goes through the pins, something that's interesting enough for an asymmetrical ball. I compared it to my IQ tour (shined for a solid, goes longer and cleaner) and Phaze 2 (controllable and smooth finish) and find the Ion Pro to be right in the middle between these two balls. Definitely a game changer in the benchmark series and will find this ball to be most useful for all levels of competition. Be sure to drill one from your local pro shop!! Thomas Coco (storm staffer)

    THE NEW BENCHMARK!

Posted by BRIAN HIRSCH on Jul 1st 2024

Welcome back as we have a great one for you from Storm! If you're a fan of these reviews I want to thank you for watching and reading these reviews and videos and hope it gives you some information to take back when looking to get your next bowling ball. TESTING ENVIRONMENT Length:42 Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): Broken Down House Shot BALL: Storm ION Pro Coverstock: : TX-16 Hybrid Core: : Element Tour A.I. Finish: 4000 RG: 2.51 (14 Pounds) Differential: .036 (14 Pounds) MB/PSA: .10 (14 Pounds) ME: Right-Handed Tweener Speed: 14-15mph Rev Rate: 210 PAP: 4 7/8 right 5/8 up Ball Layout: 5X3X4 Pin Down This ball is gonna be the new way to look at the benchmark ball. Being someone who never threw a Phaze II and not many of the IQ’s this ball is marketed as that in between ball AKA your benchmark piece. The testing was done at Castle Lanes in Racine on a used oil pattern. For me this was likely to be the best case when I would use the ION Pro. Due to my lower rev rate/higher speed I tend to throw the bigger balls to start even on house shots. I was able to move around the lane some but when on top of the friction this ball started to hook up really fast so as I moved left I was able to roll it into the friction and it was still responsive. Shots that I did get left of target were a little lazy but didn’t overhook as you see with much bigger balls. I was able to play with the surface and this ball took these changes very well without being too clean or burnup. This ball will have a place in anyone's bag as this ball is extremely bowler friendly. The ION Pro is available today at Bowlers Choice Pro Shop inside Castle Lanes in Racine, WI or your local STORM VIP Pro Shop #Storm #SquadRG GoGlobal #VISE #BowlersChoiceProShop #3GShoes #IAmBowling (Code HIRSCH gets you 20% off) Check out my full ball reaction video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Gpvk0-ijyY4?si=KvtA3zc97xgPgKt3 Brian Hirsch

Storm Ion Pro by Casey Murphy

Posted by Casey Murphy on Jun 29th 2024

Orientation: Right Handed Rev Rate: 400 RPM Speed: 16-17 MPH PAP: 4 ½ over and 1 1/8 up Location: Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO Pattern: High Volume THS VLS Layout: Layout 1: 4 5/8 x 4 x 2 ½ (Pin above bridge) Layout 2: 4 ¼ x 4 x 4 (pin below bridge) The ION Pro is the ball I’ve been waiting for! I wanted a lower diff/Int diff ball forever! The Tour DynamX was really close but it is a little too slow due to the differential being 0.026. It was hard to get that ball into the roll phase if there was too much oil or with too much ball speed. The ION PRO solves that problem! It always gets into a roll. It’s not too strong, or weak, it’s the perfect benchmark ball. I can throw it harder and I can get real straight, or slow down and really send the ball right and it will recover. That’s how I measure my benchmark balls, how many zones can I play! Tour Dynam-X was limited, the ION PRO built on that ball and can do ANYTHING and the carry is vastly improved. Pick one up today!

Storm Ion Pro – WWRD 6/21/2024

Cover: TX-16 Hybrid Reactive Core: Element Tour A.I. RG: 2.47 RG. Diff.: 0.035 Finish: 4000-Grit Abralon Fragrance: Kiwi Tart Storm’s new Ion Pro is a Hybrid Asymmetric Piece. This piece is good for Heavy-Medium Volume Patterns. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin Up between the Fingers, CG kicked out 1” from the palm, and Mass Bias 1 1/2” Right of the Thumb. I threw this on a burned up 43’ house pattern. Out of Box ball motion was clean through the fronts with a strong continuous motion in the backend. I compared this piece to the Phaze II (3-3 Right) starts earlier in the mids wth a smooth motion on the backend and IQ Tour (4-4 Right) was more of a smooth rolling piece. This piece fits between the Phaze II and IQ Tour. This is a Versatile piece that fits all styles of bowlers. Check out the Ball motion Video on my YouTube Page: https://youtu.be/a8rq3_4_8PM

ION PRO - Ball Specs Cover Stock: TX-16 Hybrid Finish: 4000 Grit Abralon Core: Element Tour AI Core Color: Navy, Carbon, Steel Layout: 50 x 5 x 40 RG: 2.47 Differential: 0.035 Intermediate Diff: 0.014 Review Storm’s Ion Pro, their first ever asymmetric benchmark ball. The Ion Pro has the TX-16 hybrid cover wrapped around the Element Tour AI Core is able to adapt on multiple lane patterns. The hybrid cover is a perfect balance of pearl and solid components will ensure optimal length and backend will be achieved on all medium conditions. My ball layout is 50x5x40. For a low to mid rev player this ball reads the mid lane very well and does not overreact down lane. I tested this ball on THS 43 Feet with great success playing multiple angles. If you need ball that's gives you a great look on multiple patterns, put the Storm Ion Pro in your bag today! My ball review videos are posted on YouTube channel Stanley Waite. Ion Pro!

Posted by Joshua L. Shoemaker on Jun 24th 2024

The Ion Pro features the TX-16 hybrid cover wrapped around the brand new Element Tour AI core. This produces a very stable and versatile ball reaction that’s going to work for a wide variety of styles across all conditions. The Ion Pro reminds me a lot of my older IQ Tours with big weight holes. The increase in differential and cover strength over the OG IQ Tour makes the Ion Pro handle more oil and steeper angles through the front part of the lane. Ion Pro The New Benchmark

Posted by anthony s on Jun 24th 2024

HAND: LEFT (ONE HANDED) PAP: 4 3/8 OVER / 1/16 UP BALL SPEED: 16MPH REV RATE: 420 AXIS TILT: 20 AXIS ROTATION: 50 LAYOUT: 60X4.5X40 The all-new ION PRO features the new Element Tour Core and the reliable TX-16 Hybrid Cover stock giving you the ultimate benchmark shape for today's conditions. This ball was designed to upgrade the IQ Tour and, in my opinion, they nailed it. I’ve used this ball on multiple lane patterns and surfaces and so far, this ball does exactly what its intended to do. Out of the box I had a little more down lane motion than I'd like to see out of this type of a ball, so I decided to hit it with a 2,000 pad to get the ball to rev up a little earlier on the lane and mellow out the backends. For me this ball is about 2-3 boards stronger than my IQ Tour and it has taken over my Phaze 2 position in my tournament bag. It has a little more torque off the pattern than both of those 2 balls and seems to handle the oil just as well as my Phaze 2. The Ion Pro seems to really bridge the gap between Asymmetrical and symmetrical bowling balls. This ball will do well in both tournament and house shot conditions as it has that benchmark feel which all players of all styles will enjoy.

Storm Ion Pro Ball Review Layout VLS-4.75x4.25x1.50 Dual Angle-52x4.75x23 Surface -2000 Grit Storm Ion Pro uses a brand new core with AI Technology wrapped TX-16 in a hybrid version.Storm is creating another benchmark motion to compliment their two goats. Storm Ion Pro will bridge the gap between the high end asymmetricals and their stong symmetricals. I compared the ion pro to the Phaze 2 and the IQ tour solid in my video and for me the ion pro had more shape downlane but will great control.I can definitely see the ion pro as my first ball out of the bag with great versatility. I can definitely see different layouts and surface preps on the Ion pro to create some different options. Available June 21st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ion Pro

Posted by Dave Jecko on Jun 19th 2024

Storm Ion Pro - Premier Line Coverstock: TX-16 Hybrid - 4000 Grit Core: Element Tour A.I. RG: 2.47 Differential: .035 PSA: .014 (15 lbs) Fragrance: Kiwi Tart Layout: 5 x 5 x 3 PAP: 6" Right, 1 3/8" Up Axis Tilt: 16° Rotation: 51° Rev Rate: 450-500 Speed: 17-18 mph Location: Vista Lanes - Yorkville, NY Pattern: 2023 USBC Jr. Gold Lane Surface: HPL The Ion Pro takes the idea of benchmark ball to the next level. The combination of the brand new TX-16 hybrid coverstock, that was derived from the Phaze II, along with the brand new Element Tour A.I. asymmetric core redefines the expectations of a reliable, stable, and versatile ball. The Ion Pro was specifically designed to allow bowlers of any style to play multiple angles on a variety of lane conditions. The Ion Pro gave me the best look sliding on 33, looking 19 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 8, but if I wanted to play straighter I could get softer with my hand and stay more up the back of the ball. It also looked great further left with more tilt and slower ball speed. When compared to the Summit, the Ion Pro is 4 boards stronger, cleaner, and much more continuous. The Ion Pro will slot below a big solid asymmetric and above a solid/hybrid symmetric in my bag. The Ion Pro is going to be a game changer and a must in everyone's bag! Stop by your local Storm VIP pro shop to check it out! Available on June 21st. Dave Jecko Storm Amateur Staff Member YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@maximumpotentialbowlerssho7625

    Storm Ion Pro

Posted by Matt Fazzone on Jun 19th 2024

The Ion Pro is the latest and greatest benchmark type category ball that is released by Storm adding to the success of the Phaze 2 and iQ Tour. The Ion Pro features the all new Element Tour AI core that yields an RG of 2.47, diff of 0.035 and PSA of 0.014 and is wrapped around the TX-16 Hybrid cover stock. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 4.5 which is also the same drilling I have in my Phaze 2 and iQ Tour. My first impression in throwing this ball was that is like the best of both balls for me. I naturally have the iQ Tour a little cleaner for a solid and I have the Phaze 2 a little more angular on the back and stronger overall hook. The Ion Pro sits directly between the too because for me the first half of it going down the lane reminds me of an Tour but the back half reminds me of a Phaze 2. I believe high rev players going to love this ball mostly because of the forgiveness of it and I can see it being great on the fresh or right after the Phaze 2.
