The !Q Tour 78-U

Well, leave it to Storm to develop the !Q Tour 78-U and answer that question with an emphatic yes! The !Q Tour 78-U combines Storm's proven C3 Centripetal Control Core and the Controll 78 Solid urethane cover, and it is a brilliant combination. And if you wonder why, Storm put the extra L in the Controll 78-U. It is because control is what makes the !Q Tour 78 an excellent Storm urethane release. So, let's take a closer look at what makes the !Q 78-U a winner to add to your arsenal. The C3 Centripetal Control Core is a proven smooth and predictable industry staple. Its benchmark style roll and uniformity make it a fantastic choice for the !Q Tour 78-U. Being a straighter player, I can depend on the C3 Core to rev smoothly in the mid-lane without burning up its energy. And its consistent and predictable motion off the pattern helps me maintain a repeatable line all night without going out of my comfort zone. But the best part of the C3 is it retains its energy very well. So, unlike other symmetrical cores that flat- ten for a straighter player like me, the C3 Centripetal Control Core has an impressive continuation, creating the difference between strikes and leaving pocket nine-counts. So, if you're a straighter player like me, the C3 Centripetal Control Core is an excellent choice for the !Q Tour 78-U. Let's talk about the Controll 78 urethane coverstock. The 78 stands for the hardness, equating to a PBA-compliant urethane cover -period! So, now let's talk about how it reacted on the lanes. I found the Controll 78-U to do what its name claims- control! On a THS, urethanes aren't the best choice for a straighter, high-speed player like me. However, with the Controll 78-U, I found a great line just right of the shim and loved how the 78-U stayed stable and smoothly rolled through the entire lane. Further, I found the 78-U works best with a blend of oil and friction. And although with its 500-grit Abralon surface, the 78-U reads early, it is very predictable. So, I can see how the !Q Tour 78-U would be an excellent choice for short patterns or late-night THS conditions. So, if you're a down-and-in player like me, and enjoy playing the first to second arrow, then Controll 78-U is the right urethane choice for your arsenal! Ultimately, I was impressed with the new Storm !Q Tour 78-U. And I would say for any straighter, down-and-in player like me looking for a urethane ball to fill their arsenal, look no further because the !Q Tour 78-U is an excellent choice. So, stop into your local Storm VIP Pro Shop and add the !Q Tour 78-U to your arsenal today. It's a perfect choice for your urethane ball! IQ 78-U
Introducing the newest urethane Storm ball, the IQ 78-U! Featuring the tried and true C3 core and a brand new harder urethane shell, the 78-U provides an updated compliment to the Pitch Black. Overall, the 78-U is slightly cleaner and more continuous than the Pitch Black, due in large part to the higher differential provided by the C3 core. If you're looking for that early, controllable, classic urethane shape that is compliant with the latest PBA rules and designed to handle modern day lane conditions, the 78-U is THE ball for you!

Review
The famous centripetal core is partnered with urethane this go around and we are not disappointed with this one. Benchmark core meets benchmark cover for excellent control for those who like to keep their angles in front of them. The IQ Tour 78/U will be excellent for those who bowl on patterns and need variation from the Pitch Black. I found the IQ Tour 78/U to be smoother than the Pitch Black and is great when control is needed and angles need to be in front of you. This ball will be excellent on short to medium sport patterns.

Storm IQ Tour 78u review by Mike Craig
I drilled up my STORM IQ TOUR 78u with a layout of 4 x 4 x 0. This puts the pin on my VAL with the CG towards the axis. Warning, I am a stroker with about 16.5 MPH speed and around a 275 RPM rev rate. Urethane is usually off limits to me but I do bowl some PBA50 and if a short pattern comes up, this is the best way to keep the ball on line with my slower speed. I put this one up with my other urethane, then ZEN/U. The ZEN/U is a urethane that I can actually get enough movement from to line up and play almost dead straight on short patterns with. The IQ TOUR 78/u is surprisingly good for me, but it does lane shine rather quickly compared to the ZEN/U. The motion is very rounded and kind of roll than lay. Still, this should be in play until the lanes transition on short for me to get to lower end pieces like the BURNER SOLID or HUSTLE RIP with surface. Put this one in your bag if your looking to give the new 78 hardness urethane a try. It will be smoother than a PITCH BLACK or ZEN/U but still worth having this look in the bag.

Iq 78u
Ball Specs: Storm !Q 78/u Coverstock: Controll 78 Urethane Weight Block: C3 Core Color Crimson Finish 500 Grit Layout 35x4 3/8x30 or 4 3/8X3 7/16x2 1/4 Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 4 3/16 Over 13/16 up Rev Rate 400 Speed at release 17.5 Review: The !Q 78/u is the newest PBA compliant urethane ball. It is featuring the C3 core that was in the !Q line offering great control and versatility. Featuring a brand new cover for the changes that are going into effect for the PBA. The Controll 78 Urethane cover is a harder version of the Pitch Black cover. With the harder cover what you will find is a ball that is a smoother weaker version of a Pitch Black. The hook window for the Pitch Black is shorter and rollier compared to the !Q 78. This ball is going to be for the PBA bowlers or someone looking for a more controllable pitch black. !Q Tour 78-U
Storm !Q Tour 78-U Coverstock: Controll 78 Urethane Finish: 500 Grit Abralon Core: C3 (14pd.) RG: 2.54 Differential: 0.034 Layout: 4 x 4 1/3 x 5 - 2LS Layout Extras: 3in Finger Depth, "X" - 4 1/2 D and 1 Inch Left Tester: PAP 6 1/2 R, 1 1/4 D Review: The all new PBA compliant urethane ball from SPI is setting a new standard for short oil patterns. The traditional C3 Core has been designed to work with old school urethane to provide the player with an array of options to get that needed urethane type look. This includes a 500 OOB Abralon finish which is a typical surface starting point for most urethane pieces. When the initial announcement came out from the PBA I already had my mind set that the next urethane offering would be meh compared to the current options already available. OOB I took this one to the lanes to practice and even had a few other thumbless players give the 78-U a few rolls. Right away the ball read early and provided good control. I did not see anything overly fancy but did notice after we put some miles on the ball it started lengthening a bit which is typical as the surface smooths upwards over time. In comparing the 78-U to my all-time favorite urethane piece the Fast Pitch I noticed the 78-U does not perform as well bumping in and opening angles. Both the Fast Pitch and Pitch Black tend to shape earlier and are more predictable for me. I experimented a bit and took the 78-U to a 1K Abralon finish. This experiment paid huge dividends at a Year End Event contested on a short sport pattern. At the Year End Event a neighboring pro shop employee lead qualifying with the 78-U off the press. I used my go to pieces described above. After a ton of play I was unable to bump inside and went for the change to the 78-U (1K surface). It worked great and pulled me out of a jam and into the finals. It gave me a great shape while keeping my angles closed. I believe the C3 Core really helps to balance the harder coverstock out. I think you may find a great use for this ball when planning out your tournament adventures. I highly recommend the !Q Tour 78-U. Be sure to discuss this ball with your pro shop operator today and also consider attending a SPI MatchMaker event to test this ball out. Michael Slatky 900 Global Staff Member York, PA

Great Urethane Ball
Dual Angle Layout: 60 x 5 x 40 Storm Vector Layout: 5 x 4 ¾ x 2 ¾ This ball has that controlled, early urethane reaction with the hardness compliance of the PBA tour in 2024. Very smooth predictable reaction which is very comparable to the Pitch Black.

IQ78U
IQ Tour 78-U - Ball Specs Cover Stock: Control 78 Solid Urethane Finish: 500 Grit Abralon Core: C 3 Core Color: Crimson RG: 2.49 Differential: 0.029 Intermediate Diff: N/A Review The new Storm IQ 78U features the Controlled 78 Solid Urethane cover wrapped around the C3 Core creating new smooth reaction different than the current urethane options. IQ tour 78U RG is 2.49, which creates an early hook in the beginning of the lane. The differential of 0.029 creates a smooth consistent backend motion reminiscent of traditional urethane. I tested this ball on a 43 feet typical house pattern. I was able to play up the lane from seven board out with great success. For me the Zen U was stronger overall than the IQ 78U. This is a great ball for all bowlers bowling on short tournament patterns. Order one from your local pro shop today! My ball review videos are posted on YouTube channel Stanley Waite.
